Concepts of Green IT and Green Computing - Essays masters.
Green computing or green IT, refers to environmentally sustainable computing or IT. It is “the study and practice of designing, manufacturing, using, and disposing of computers, servers, and associated subsystems—such as monitors, printers, storage devices, and networking and communications systems—efficiently and effectively with minimal or no impact on the environment.
Green Computing Research Project Green Computing, as the suggests, is concerned with using technology in an environmentallyfriendly way. This can be done in a number of ways including the design, production, use, and disposal of tools and equipment used in the Information Technology sectors.
The article on Harnessing Green IT: Principles and Practices defines green computing as “the learning and training of designing, developed, using and disposing of servers, computers and associated subsystem such as printers, storage devices, monitors, with networking and communication systems, effectively and efficiently with slightly or no effect on the environment” (Murugesan, 2008).
Green computing will not work out anymore in this instance. In the other hand, there is a common view that man-made emissions are too small to cause climate change. Although it is true that only a small amount of emission caused by human in the annual cycle amount, we cannot be blind as the population increases, our consumption of energy also inevitably in a high demand.
Green computing has been defined as the collection of practices and procedures for designing, manufacturing, using, and disposing of computing resources in an environmental-friendly way, while.
According to San Murugesan (Murugesan, 2008) in his paper on Harnessing green IT, Green IT (Also known as Green ICT or Green Computing) refers to environmentally sound IT. It focusses on the study and practice of designing, manufacturing, using and disposing of computers, servers and any associated subsystems in an effective and efficient manner with minimal to no impact on the environment.
The grid computing concept has been widely used in scientific research, oil and gas fields, banking and education a few years ago. In this work, we adopt the idea of grid computing but bring it to mobile and ubiquitous devices instead of traditional computers. Therefore, we propose a new concept: Mist Computing.
